- Serves as vice-chairman of the South Carolina Hunley Commission, which was created in 1995 to supervise the recovery and conservation of the Confederate submarine H.L. Hunley.
- Has worked on numerous campaigns for conservative candidates including Representatives Tommy Stringer, Bill Chumley, and Eric Bedingfield; and Senators Lee Bright, Danny Verdin, and Larry Grooms; and Congressman Tim Scott.
